Huisman Flowers is a division of Eastern Floral Lakeshore. Our Grand Haven and Holland flower shops have operated as part of the Eastern Floral family of floral design centers for more than 60 years. Many of you have done business with Eastern Floral over the years. We are one of the most trusted floral brands in the state of Michigan. Recently, the Huisman family purchased the Grand Haven and Holland flower shops from our Eastern Floral founder, Bing Goei. The Grand Rapids store will remain Eastern Floral. The Holland and Grand Haven stores initially updated their names to Eastern Floral Lakeshore. The Huisman’s family has been a part of the Eastern Floral family for many years. They plan to continue operating the Grand Haven and Holland stores in the same traditions that you have come to know and love.

Beginning in 2021 we will be updating our brand name. Our new operating name will be, Huisman Flowers, a division of Eastern Floral Lakeshore. You will see some updates to the signage on our flower shops in the coming months. We will also be adding some new graphics to our flower delivery vans. This blog is another piece of our new brand program. In the end, we are still the great floral family that you have come to know and love. Expect the same great floral products. Recently, Huisman Flowers management hired Flyline Search Marketing to manage their online marketing and sales platform. In addition, the Flyline team just completed a make over of the Huisman Flowers website.  Enhancements to floral product displays and ease of navigation were made.  Flyline has worked with florists throughout  the United States and produced tremendous sales growth for these florists.

Another great thing about Flyline is they bring a comprehensive approach to the table. They will help to develop lead streams while also reducing dependence on wire orders. They will manage social media, build brand recognition and enhance index information with the search engines. White and Red Roses

Ecuadorian Roses – These flowers are favorites worldwide. They are farm grown and meticulously handpicked. Often people travel to the country of Ecuador to see these magnificent roses. This country is the third largest supplier of flowers in the world and most of those are roses. In addition to the beautiful roses produced in Ecuador, the financial benefits these bring to the country offer valuable employment opportunities to the citizens. Some of the things that set these gorgeous flowers apart from others are:

• Size – The Ecuadorian Rose is larger than other varieties. Not only are the blooms bigger but the rose stems are longer.  The growing conditions in South America are optimum with perfect sunlight conditions allowing these roses to flourish.
• Longer Lifespan – Fresh cut Ecuadorian Roses can last for two weeks if properly cared for. Most other varieties look good for about one week.
• Superior Growing Conditions – These roses have the unfair advantage of having the perfect mix of cooler moist air in an altitude of 3000 ft. The altitude is key as it means they are closer to the Sun. This results in the stems growing much straighter and longer that roses grown in article light.
• Vivid Color – Due to the warm days and cool nights in this region, the petals of the Ecuadorian Rose are extremely beautiful. Other roses grown in parts of the world where artificial lighting and pesticides are used, just do not compare.

Full Bloom Hydrangea – Hydrangeas’ have star-shaped flowers and can be found in many different colors.  Because the flowers are in such a large collection of blooms, they are symbolic of a united family, friendship, gratitude and overall abundance of love. They are a hearty flower so are able to maintain their beauty longer than other varieties of fresh cut flowers.

Exotic Orchids – “The orchids grow in the woods and they let out their fragrance even if there is no one around to appreciate it. Likewise, men of noble character will not let poverty deter their will to be guided by high principles and morals.” –Confucius. Orchids usually are associated with the symbolism of fertility.  However, different colors have varying meanings

• White orchids symbolize innocence and purity, as well as elegance and reverence.
• Pink orchids symbolize femininity, grace, and joy.
• Yellow orchids symbolize friendship and new beginnings.
• Purple orchids symbolize royalty and admiration, and are traditionally given as a sign of respect.
• Orange orchids symbolize pride, enthusiasm, and boldness.

We purchase many of the flowers we sell direct from flower farms both domestic and international. This ensures the freshness and quality of our product.  Buying direct offers lots of great advantages. For example, we are able to reduce the time between when the flowers are cut at the farm and when they arrive in our shop to be used in floral designs. Fresher flowers translate into a more beautiful, longer lasting arrangement. Buying direct also allows us to reduce the number of middlemen in the flower buying process. Reducing the middleman allows us to purchase flowers at a lower cost. Much of the cost savings we produce are passed through to our customers.
